What it is
A fabric panel is a rigid acoustic core, usually glasswool or polyester board, wrapped in acoustic fabric with hardened edges. Fixed to a wall or ceiling it absorbs reflected sound and cuts echo, while the fabric gives the room its colour. Fabric-covered plywood looks the same once installed but diffuses sound instead of absorbing it, so it is used where a hall needs liveliness rather than damping.
